Company Background

Inspired initially be a free game called ‘Dink Smallwood’, a third person RPG available on CNET.com when looking for something to fill a spare hour or so over a Christmas holiday and subsequently by Dungeon Siege, the lure of working creatively with technology sparked David Prince back into writing games. David had previously written 2D space games and graphics packages back in the dark ages of 48Kb main memory when programs had to handle their own code stack swapping, or code morphing, and was, at the time, working with 3D air traffic control and simulator systems.

ViVV Ltd was formed in June 2006 following an initial 2 year development phase intended to prove technological and creative ideas and to decide whether or not to it would be feasible to take the games ideas and the associated technologies through to completion. At this point, a lot of the fundamental graphics technology was in place with models and initial sets providing a demonstrable first person walk-through. The company was formed with David Prince as managing director and Neville Beckhurst as company secretary. The name is based upon the word origins of ‘an imagined future in living glass’.
